Lauren and Oliver met when they were at university in Cambridge in 2011. They were both studying the same course, but Oliver was doing a combined course that included Electronics. Oliver had started his course in 2008, and Lauren moved to Cambridge to start her course a year later in 2009.

Lauren later joined the AMT society, where she enjoyed practicing and learning about live audio engineering. One day, Lauren went to AMT as usual, but this time Oliver appeared. He had made friends with some of the other students in AMT and had brought a synth pad to show them, so we all went upstairs to a seated area and he taught us all about how it worked.

Oliver noticed Lauren when he first entered the room, thinking she seemed cute and nerdy. Whilst he sat down and talked about his synth pad, he was embarrassed to point out that he had connected some D batteries in his pocket and they were burning his leg. Lauren remembers wondering why he was sweating so much…

Lauren and Oliver then passed paths a week or so later, recognising each other from that day and stopped for a chat where they exchanged numbers. Oliver invited Lauren over and cooked her a sausage casserole, incidentally one of her favourite foods, and they began to spend more and more time together.

They have now been a couple for almost 13 years and decided that it’s finally time to commit to each other and join their families together.
